Set for School: A Parent Talk

Two women and a baby sit on the sidewalk, talking and smiling at each other. A stroller is nearby, and a small water feature with rocks and toys is in the foreground.

Set for School: A Parent Talk

Helping Families Prepare for a Calm & Confident Start to Prep

Starting school is a big milestone—for children and their grown-ups.

But it doesn’t have to be overwhelming.

That’s why I created Set for School, a practical, supportive talk designed especially for parents and carers of children starting Prep.

In this 60-minute session, I guide families through how to best support their child’s transition to school—without pressure or panic. I also use design thinking activities to actively engage parents, helping them explore and develop personalised ways to support their child’s unique needs and strengths.

  • ✔ What to expect in Prep—from daily routines to learning environments

✔ How to identify and support missing skills—gently and playfully

✔ How to build independence and confidence in their child

✔ Advocacy tips—knowing when and how to speak up for your child

✔ Time for Q&A—because every family’s journey is different

  • ✔ Childcare centres, kindergartens, and early learning services who want to support families

✔ Parents and carers of 3–5 year olds preparing for the Primary School transition

✔ Communities who believe in empowering parents to create calm, confident transitions

  • ✔ MEd, BEd (Education)

✔ Former Prep teacher with 10+ years in Brisbane schools

    ✔ Mum of two

✔ Founder of Edzocate Educational Playgroup

I combine real classroom experience with real-life parenting, to give families practical

strategies they can actually use, without stress or overwhelm.

  • ✔ 60-minute talk (in person or online)

✔ Brisbane & surrounds (travel fee may apply outside the region)

✔ Can be held onsite at your service, or online for wider access

✔ Customised to your group’s needs
